500 years back, India ruled entire world and stood as the richest country in the world. After British invasion, we lost our intellectual education system, law and order, economy, tradition and culture. Today’s generation don’t even have an idea how our education system was like.
A country is said to be superpower when it is strong in military, international relations, technology, economy and culture. In the modern age, the United States of America, China, Russia, Japan and the United Kingdom are considered to be superpowers.
Some people may start laughing already when we predict that India will rule the world by 2050. Change is a constant thing and what today is a ‘developing country’ can pretty much rule the whole world a few decades later.
Here are the 10 strong reasons why we believe India will rule the world by 2050.
1. Economic Superpower By 2030
According to the report, India will be in the year 2030 what China is today.
In the fifth instalment of the ‘Global Trends 2030: Alternative Worlds’ by the National Intelligence Council (NIC), it is mentioned that, “in 2030 India could be the rising economic powerhouse that China is seen to be today. According to US Intelligence, India is set to become an economic superpower by the year 2030.
2. Tackles Any Military Emergency
India ranks number 4 on the list of top 10 most powerful militaries in the world with a power index of 0.1593 and a defence budget of US $53,000,000,000 and an active military personnel of 1,362,500. Add to it a total of 2,102 aircrafts and a naval strength of 295 and you have a country ready to tackle any military emergency.
Wanna compare these figures to the country that ranked first of the list, USA? Then, here are the statistics. The United States of America has a power index of 0.0857, a defence budget of $587,800,000,000 and active military personnel of 1,373,650. Its number of aircrafts stands at 13,762 and a naval strength of 415.
3. Diplomacy
India has not been involved in international conflicts and has even managed to help out whenever an international crisis has occurred. Due to its good international reach, it has become the third largest contributor to UN Peacekeeping Forces worldwide. The main hindrance that the country faces is its ongoing conflict with Pakistan.
4. Largest Youth Population
India has the world’s largest English speaking population! Not even UK has that many English speaking people! India has high young population. Approximately 50% of the nation’s population is below the age group of 24. And approximately 65% of the nation’s population is below the age of 35. This gives India a huge workforce base which can last for a good two to three decades.
5. Geographical Advantage
Because of its location, India also stands a chance to become a superpower by the year 2050. When people in India will accept and implement renewable energy finally, then India will benefit from it as India lies in the sunny tropical belt.
6. Science and technology
India is the fourth country to reach the Moon’s surface. And, on 24th September 2014, it made history by becoming the fourth nation to have a satellite orbiting Mars which clearly says that India is rocking as far as science and technology is concerned. It is also supporting and investing in research and development centers and is slowly undergoing a revolution in the field of science and technology.
7. Democracy
Politics plays an important role in the development of any nation. India is trying to be a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. However, USA and China have not been so supportive of India. But, due to improved relations between USA and India in the recent past, USA might support the democratic republic in becoming a member.
8. Infrastructure
Cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kochi already have a modern metro rail system. With the onset of Bullet train and other ambitious projects, we can assume that it will lead to quick economic growth which will in turn lead to India becoming a superpower by 2050.
9. History
To know about any country or family or a person or analyzing business data, we look at history and then will come to decision. India had geniuses who have contributed inventions such as the numbering system, zero, calculus and even astronomy. And still India has many geniuses who are not only contributing to India but to other countries as well.
10. Tourism
For any country, tourism plays an important role.
According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), India has the world’s 7th largest tourism economy in terms of GDP. According to the council’s well researched data, the travel and tourism sector added around Indian Rupees 14.1 trillion to the country’s GDP in the year 2016. That is around 9.6% of India’s GDP thus putting it on the 7th rank.
In the year 2016, the tourism sector also created around 40.3 million jobs. Also, the sector was the fastest growing amongst the G20 countries in 2016. It grew by 8.5% in 2016 and is predicted to grow further by 6.7% in 2017.
The main obstacles that are hindering the progress of India are corruption, energy dependency, lack of infrastructural development, low literacy levels, poverty, unemployment, reservation and communal violence.
