The Qutub Minar is one of the prime attention arrestors in New Delhi. It attracts thousands of visitors each year. We all have read that the Qutub Minar was built by Qutab Ud-Din-Aibak, the founder of the Delhi Sultanate, his son-in-law Iltutmish and Firoz Shah Tughlaq. The 73 meter tall Qutub Minaret was said to be built as a watchtower or victory tower but many claims that the tower was once a Hindu Temple. They also followed their claims with the proofs. Hence, today we have brought you 5 firm proofs that tell the Qutub Minar was once a Hindu temple.
1. Temple Bells On The Walls Of Qutub Complex
The bells are considered devilish in Islam and it is said that they are the musical instrument of the devil himself. Now it is hard to explain why a Muslim ruler has a deep love for bells.
2. No Reason For Constructing Qutub Minar
Some say that it was built as a watchtower while others say it was built for Muslims to worship their God but they don’t seem like the proper reasons for making a 73-meter tall tower.
3. Hindu Architecture In Qutub Complex
The Qutub Minar is surrounded by the ruined architecture which doesn’t seem Islamic. The pillars in the Qutub complex are designed in the Hindu style. There are the bells inscribed on the pillars, the bells look exactly the same that are used in Hindu temple. Pursuing this further, there is a sculpture of Lord Ganesha. On top of that, the story of Ramayana is shown in the architecture.
4. Qutab Ud-Din-Aibak Used To Live In Lahore
One of the prime reasons that tell that Qutub Minar was not built by Qutab Ud-Din-Aibak is that he used to live in Lahore. Lahore was 250 Miles away from Delhi. If Qutab Ud-Din-Aibak wanted to build a watchtower, a victory tower or any significant architecture then why he chose a place 250 Miles away from his residence?
5. Hindu Constructions Around The Qutub Minar
If we look at the aerial view of Qutub Minar we will see that the tower is surrounded by the Hindu buildings. It is hard to explain why the Hindu architecture is there.
We all know that Muslim rulers devastated many Hindu temples before making Islamic figures over them so it won’t be a surprise if we find Qutub Minar to be one of those Islamic figures built over Hindu temples. Or it can be another Hindu revivalist movement, to keep the separation on the basis of religion in the society. What do you think about it? Is it a Hindu temple?
