After a heated contest between SRH and DD, Everyone was excited about the Match 37. The Match 37 of IPL 2018 was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians displayed amazing batting and put a target of 182 in front of KKR. The trouble was doubled for KKR when MI bowlers took two early wickets. Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik made some efforts but came up short. And, Mumbai Indians pulled off the victory by 13 runs.
MI Openers Shine In Match 37
Winning the toss, KKR decided to bowl first. However, the bowlers were clearly outmatched by MI openers. To conclude, they could not get any wicket in the powerplay overs. Hitting some fours and sixes, MI openers, Suryakumar Yadav and Ewin Lewis knocked 58 runs in the powerplay overs.
Rohit Sharma Could Not Impress With His Batting
Yadav and Lewis continued to punish the KKR bowlers and raised the score to 91 before Ewin Lewis lost his wicket to Andre Russel. Lewis scored 43 runs in just 28 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 maximums. The MI captain, Rohit Sharma could not impress us with his bat and he was sent off by Narine at just 11 runs.
Hardik Pandya In The Death Overs
The spectacular inning of Suryakumar Yadav came to an end when he was caught by Chris Lynn. He scored 59 runs in 39 balls hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes. Hardik Pandya smashed a few boundaries in the death overs and took the score to 181/4 after the end of 20 overs.
MI Bowlers Did Well
Undoubtedly, there were a lot of expectations from KKR openers. However, the openers were dismissed earlier. The score was only 28 runs and KKR lost both of its openers. The victory was gradually drifting away from their reach. Hardik Pandya gave an all-round performance striking 2 wickets and smashing 35 runs. For his amazing performance, he was selected as the man of the match.
Robin Uthappa Ease Off The Pressure
Thanks to Robin Uthappa who ease off a bit of pressure from KKR. He scored 54 in 35 balls, hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes. After a healthy partnership, Uthappa and Nitish Rana were dismissed. KKR scored 128/4 in 16 overs. The target was still 54 runs away and they had only 24 balls left.
KKR Came Up Short
