Chandigarh Man Builds India’s Tallest Cycle – Holds Several Records

Chandigarh-based Rajiv Kumar, who has designed a cycle which is twice the height of an average human being in the world, is eyeing Guinness World Record. Kumar, who modified his cycle to create the tallest cycle in the country, has already entered Limca Book of Records. The cycle measures eight feet, six inches and can be further expanded to 10 feet and two inches.

Rajeev, popularly known as Johnny, always wanted to excel in something unique, ever since he was a child. He says he built a 13-foot cycle in 1999 but had to dismantle it because the authorities banned it from being used on city roads.

“At that time I wanted to do something different but was not sure how to go about it. Then one day I raised the seat of my cycle just for the heck of it but realized that my feet did not reach the pedals. So I got the bike modified by raising the pedals.”

“It’s my own creation. I always wanted to do something else, something different. If we have come to this world, then we should do something to make our mark. Thinking this I made this cycle.”

Rajeev believes that the cycle is the most environment-friendly mode of transport and the next generation should get over their ‘shame’ of it.  He aims at reducing pollution level.

 

Mission

Rajeev’s mission is to aware people to take up cycling as a routine to stay fit and healthy. He also believes that this practice will bring down health problems and will also help in reducing the pollution levels in the country. The cycle is made out of stainless steel and is designed by Rajeev himself.

He has spent approx. 1 lakh to design the cycle he currently owns, all of which came from his own pocket.
