People with differently-abled body have to work harder. Moreover, it is considered that it is impossible for them to achieve their dreams. However, time after time we see new examples that inspire everyone. This time a differently abled man from Pattran, Punjab is been inspiring everyone with his efforts and will. He is the Armless cyclist.
The Armless Cyclist
India’s Armless cyclist Jagwinder Singh is also known as super Singh because he has done something that others could not. Jagwinder was born with Amelia, a birth defect that causes the limbs to tuck. However, the disability could not resist him from achieving his dreams. Now he is an adroit cyclist and has won many medals. It is surprising to see how a man without arms can ride the cycle with such an ease. Let us see how he became the armless cyclist despite being differently abled.
This Is How He Learned Cycling
Recalling his memory, Jagwinder Singh said, “When I was in eighth class, my parents bought a cycle for my sister. She was afraid of falling from it that I was not. I wanted to learn how to ride it. Everyone said that it is impossible to ride without having arms. I started learning by myself and made gradual progress. In the beginning, I would make the half rotation of the pedals and later I learned to do complete pedaling. This gave me a new hope and changed my life completely.”
“I Have Learnt From Falling Down”
While riding the cycle he used to keep the pace high as a result he fell down from the cycle a lot of times. He says, “I have learned from falling down. Every time I fell down I get up and learned something new”. Furthermore, he has completed the Patiala’s 212 Kilometer long cyclothon in just 9 minutes and 15 seconds.
He Is Also A Drawing Teacher
Apart from this, he is also a drawing teacher in a local school in Pattran. Since an early age, he started using his legs to draw. His legs grew accustomed to that and now he can draw with his legs. Moreover, he also does the cooking by using his legs.
