The year 2020 is over, and 2021 started with positive news. The two vaccines Covaxin and Covishield are approved to fight coronavirus, and the vaccination is started in India. The vaccination drive in India is the largest vaccination drives in the world. India has the largest production capacity for drug making. India plans to supply the COVID vaccines to most neighboring countries and extend them to other nations. Under grant assistance in sync with the “Neighbourhood First” Policy, from January 20, 2021, India has gifted 55 lakhs doses to its immediate neighborhood countries and some of those in its extended boundaries like Mauritius and Seychelles.

Indian foreign ministry said that it has also plan to send some COVID vaccine doses as gifts to Oman, Caribbean states, Nicaragua, and Pacific Island states. As per doses, Oman to get 1 lakh, Caribbean states to get 5 lakhs, Nicaragua to get 2 lakhs, and Pacific Island state to get 2 lakhs. India started supplying the COVID vaccine to its immediate neighbors, and the only country left (apart from Pakistan) is Afghanistan. Nepal

Bangladesh

On Monday, India supplied 5 million doses of Covishield vaccine to Bangladesh as its first consignment, after the four days of 2 million doses supply as a gift under the “Neighbourhood First” policy.

 

The Maldives

Maldives is one of the first nations to get COVID vaccines from India. It received 1 lakh COVID vaccines from India as grant assistance on Wednesday. In addition to vaccine support, Maldives also got assistance in medicine supply, food supply, medical team, training, and financial assistance.
