Pandemic 2.0: Here Are All The Cities Undergoing Lockdown Or Curfew To Control The Second Wave

There is a spike in Coronavirus cases in India. When we thought that soon we would overcome the corona, there is a second wave of the pandemic in the nation. In the last five days, the spread has reached a peak that has not touched in the previous ten months. The single-day new cases came almost 40000 on Thursday. It is the highest single-day case recorded since last November. The daily deaths also rose to 150; it is reported that it is the third consecutive day the number 150 in deaths. With this rise of cases, many states and Union Territories imposed lockdown and night curfew from March 15 to March 21.

Here the list of states and cities going for lockdown and curfew to control the spread of COVID-19 second wave. Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka, and Gujarat are the states are recorded the highest cases in the last two days as per information from the government data. The active cases in states like Maharashtra, Kerala, and Punjab are contributed 76.4 percent of the total active cases, of which Maharashtra alone took a share of 60 percent.

Maharashtra is the worst-hit state with Pandemic 2.0. 25833 confirmed cases came on Thursday. The active cases are around 166353. With this sudden spike of active cases, the Maharashtra government imposed partial lockdown and night curfew in some of its cities.

 

Lockdown In Nagpur

A week-long lockdown is imposed on March 15 in Nagpur with some restrictions. There are 3831 new confirmed cases on Thursday.

 

 Curfew In Pune

Pune is the most affected city of India from the COVID-19 Pandemic. So far, there are 455016 confirmed cases in Pune. Out of which, 35539 are active cases. Officials have imposed a night curfew from 11 PM to 6 AM in Pune. It has directed to close schools and colleges till March 31. Hotels, restaurants, malls, and multiplexes are allowed only to open till 11 pm. There are 4973 new confirmed cases on Thursday.

 

Curfew In Wardha

The 8 PM to 8 AM curfew is imposed on Monday in Wardha for all shops, restaurants, hotels, and petrol pumps. Only essential items selling shops are allowed to remain open.

 

Nasik Curfew

Night curfew from 7 PM to 7 AM has been imposed in Nasik. Hotels and restaurants are allowed till 9 pm. The same 7 pm to 7 am curfew has been imposed in Nanded until March 21. In Panvel, 11 pm to 5 am curfew has been imposed till March 22.

 

Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared a 10 PM to 6 AM night curfew in Bhopal and Indore. All shops will be closed after 10 PM in all major cities like Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Betul, and Khargone. The state has banned the Holi festival from celebrating in public but permitted them to celebrate individually.

 

 Gujarat

As Gujarat’s active cases are surging, the state government decided to increase the night curfew timings by two hours in four major cities: Ahmadabad, Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara. Earlier curfew timings were from 12 AM to 6 AM. Now the curfew will start at 10 PM.

 

Ahmedabad

As the active cases rising in Ahmedabad, the city zoo, lakefront, and all public gardens are announced to close from Wednesday. Its civic body shut its bus services from Thursday. Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases, the remaining matches of the on-going T20I series between India and England at Narendra Modi Stadium will be played at an empty stadium.

 

 

Uttarakhand

The complete lockdown is announced in parts of Mussoorie, which includes the Galway Cottage area, St. George School, and Barlow Ganj area. It is ordered to remain closed until further announcements from the Dehradun district magistrate.

 

Punjab

The eight districts in Punjab such as Ludhiana, Mohali, Patiala, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Nawanshahr are under 11 pm to 5 am night curfew. Both private and government schools are shut and declared as “preparatory leaves” by the Department of School Education. But teachers are asked to present in the schools.

 

Sikkim

The Sikkim government, on Thursday, issued some safety measures and restrictions like movements of vehicles at night and functioning of the night clubs and pubs are restricted. Only emergency services are allowed to function.

Vaccination for COVID-19 is progressing on one side to eradicate COVID-19, while on another side, the COVID-19 virus started its second wave of spread. As a result of surging, many states are imposing lockdown and curfew.
