Upon receiving six letters threatening bomb attacks in Bathinda district Punjab, police stations in nearby areas have been put on high alert. The letters, which were issued via the postal service, addressed politicians, officers, and traders, raising worries among local governments. In addition, SSP Gurneet Singh confirmed receiving the threatening letters and stressed the importance of greater monitoring and security measures in response.
Punjab Bomb Attack Letter News
On May 6, an explosion occurred on Heritage Street in Amritsar, Punjab. In addition, the explosion occurred near a gas pipeline, causing several individuals to be hurt. Moreover, the explosion damaged an adjacent restaurant, and a guy sleeping on a bench outside the restaurant was injured by shattered glass panes produced by the blast. In addition, a team of six female tourists who were nearby the restaurant were injured in the event.
On May 8, a low-intensity blast happened near the Golden Temple on Amritsar’s Heritage Street. According to authorities, both explosions were produced by low-grade explosives that lacked detonators. One person was injured as a result of the second blast, and a car windscreen was shattered. According to police sources, two 250 ml cans of the health drink “Hell” were used as explosive containers for the two blasts on Amritsar’s Heritage Street.
Furthermore, during the same week, a third low-intensity bomb happened in Amritsar, notably along the pathway and park behind the Guru Ramdas Ji Niwas (inn) structure near the Golden Temple.
Content Of The Letter
The letter read, “An input has been received on the subject mentioned above that the notorious criminal Lakhbir Singh Sandhu @ Landa Harike is planning an armed attack within next couple of weeks on the Central Jail, Amritsar, or some other Jail (like Central Jail, Bathinda) with the intention of getting his gang members released from Jail. As per the secret source, Landa also plans to attack the Superintendent of Jail, Addl. Superintendent of Jail or Deputy Superintendent (Security) to get his gang members released. So, keeping this in view, the seriousness of the above input, you are directed to take all necessary steps and measures to avoid any untoward incident. This is for your information and necessary action.”
Places Under Threat
The handwritten letter contains a list of ten places where the bomb blasts are allegedly planned to take place:
- Quila
- The railway station
- Adesh Hospital
- The SSP office at the mini secretariat
- Bathinda jail
- The ITI flyover
- Mittal Mall
- New vehicle parking
- Nirankari Bhawan
- Farmers’ protest site
These are all listed in the letter. Furthermore, according to the message, the explosives for the attack have already been laid, and only divine intervention can preserve Bathinda. Moreover, it also states that the recent Amritsar bombs were just a taste of what was to come. SSP Singh stated that an FIR had been lodged and that attempts were being made to capture those responsible for drafting the threatening letter. Therefore, Punjab is on high alert.
