Who Is Judith Raanan?
Judith, a member of Chabad of Evanston, and her daughter Natalie have been missing ever since the Hamas attack in Israel. As a result, there is growing concern for their safety.
According to sources, both the mother and daughter have been sent to Gaza. The reputation of Judith is one of warmth and giving. Any new information regarding their whereabouts and state of health is being sought by the family.
Know About Natalie Raanan
One of the Americans currently missing in Israel due to an assault by the Palestinian militant group Hamas over the weekend is Natalie Raanan, a 2023 graduate of Deerfield High School.
Principal Dr. Kathryn Anderson sent this information to the school community through email on Monday night. Raanan, an 18-year-old Evanston native, had been visiting family in Israel at the time, she said.
Her family believes that she has been held hostage by Hamas, Anderson stated in a statement. Unfortunately, we are currently lacking any more details. Along with all the innocent souls lost, maimed, and affected by the terrorist assault, we keep Natalie and her family in our hearts.
Since Hamas gunmen invaded the neighborhood where they were residing, they haven’t communicated with anyone. There have now been 11 tragic deaths among Americans. Judith and Natalie Raanan were present when militants stormed Nahal Oz, a kibbutz in southern Israel near Gaza.
The Close Ones React
On Facebook, the Evanston Chabad asked followers to pray for the mother and girl. “Our broken hearts are with our brothers and sisters during this most painful and devastating time in Israel,” the message read.
“Please pray and do an extra mitzvah for all the wounded and captured and for our dear Chabad of Evanston congregate Yehudit bat Tamar and her daughter Natalie bat Yehudit, who has apparently been abducted from Nachal Oz, Israel.”
“She’s an exceedingly warm, kind, giving, generous woman,” Rabbi Meir Hecht, the Chabad’s co-director of community outreach, told the Sun-Times.
“She was always involved in helping people and being there to show support whenever someone needed a shoulder to lean on. She’s a really kind woman,” he said.
