Tarun Thakral is the name behind Heritage Transportation Trust and can also be called as managing Trustee of the museum. The man is a car collector from India. He started his unique collection in 1994 and soon had his private car collection. Soon after that, he wanted to manifest his collection to the world. But, a museum only with his cars would have been lacking some special charm. So, he came up with this heritage museum.
Hence, he went on imagining something unusual and made the outstanding Heritage Transport Museum in Taoru, Haryana which is just two hours in distance from New Delhi.
The museum was open for all in the year 2013 and marked the number of 200,000 visitors at the very beginning.
On weekends, it manages to get 350-400 visitors. During weekends, the number rises because of school groups and foreign tourists.
He explains it like, “The museum was conceived to document, exhibit, educate and disseminate information about transportation. It showcases the evolution of transportation in India and sets a benchmark in interpretation, exhibition, and communication. As the first private museum of its scale in India, it is conceived as a didactic space that engages visitor participation in learning while remaining a family experience.”

Tarun with his team has accomplished a bravo and commendable thing for creating such a beauty that mellifluously manifest the history of transport in India. The true richness is in the variety of displays.
