In a strategic leap towards self-reliance, Flipkart has teamed up with Axis Bank to introduce its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) service, exclusively available for Android users. This move positions Flipkart as a direct competitor to popular third-party UPI apps like Paytm, PhonePe, WhatsApp, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay.

Unlocking Exclusive Benefits For Flipkart Users

Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart, announced the launch, revealing exclusive perks for users. Flipkart UPI transactions offer incentives such as supercoins, cashback, and vouchers, making it an enticing choice for customers. Ten supercoins await users on their first five scan and pay transactions over Rs. 100.

Simple Activation Process For Enhanced Convenience

Activating Flipkart UPI is a breeze for interested users. By navigating to the Scan and Pay option under My UPI in the Android app, customers can select their bank, verify details via SMS, and activate the service. This user-friendly process ensures a smooth transition to the new UPI system, enhancing the overall experience.

With over 50 crore registered users, Flipkart aims to reduce reliance on third-party UPI services like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay. The introduction of its UPI handle provides a direct channel for transactions within the ecosystem, enhancing user experience and streamlining the payment process for loyal users.

Flipkart Vision

The launch of Flipkart’s UPI service comes at a crucial juncture in the digital payments landscape. India’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) recently imposed a penalty of Rs. 5.49 crore on Paytm Payments Bank for alleged money laundering, underlining the need for secure and reliable payment alternatives. Additionally, Flipkart’s move follows its separation from digital payment company PhonePe, reinforcing its commitment to its distinct identity and fortifying its position in the evolving digital market.
