Navdeep is 23 years old and competed in the F41 category. This category is for those athletes who are of short stature. In 2024, Navdeep won gold at the Paris Paralympics with a personal best throw of 47.32 meters. This even crossed the previous Paralympic record, which was by China’s Pengxiang Sun from Tokyo 2021.
Navdeep was initially declared a silver medalist, which was later upgraded to gold. It was due to Sadegh Bait Sayah’s disqualification for violating the code of conduct.
Speaking to the Paralympic Committee of India, Navdeep expressed his thoughts on equality; he said, “We deserve the same respect; I too have brought glory to the country.” He even added, saying his target is to change the perception of society. He said people with disabilities should not be mocked.
With so much pride, he concluded by saying, “We can also make our country proud.”
This achievement has shut out all the critics and proved that hard work and self-belief pay off.
