Vice President Kamala Harris has conceded the presidential election to Donald Trump after a neck-to-neck fight. With the hard-fought campaign in her concession speech, she acknowledged the pain she had to keep fighting for the cause that fuelled her campaign.

While delivering her speech, she said,
“While I concede the election, I do not concede the fight that fuelled this campaign. Fight for freedom, opportunity, dignity for all people of America.” She told her supporters to keep fighting and not to give up, even though the outcome was not what they thought.”
She also expressed optimism by saying that the light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting. She also pledged to work under the Trump administration to ensure a peaceful transfer of power. Kamala Harris added,
“I will close with this. Only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars. I know many people feel we are entering a dark time… Let us fill the sky with the light of billions and billions of stars, the light of truth, optimism and service.”
The Remarkable Victory Of Trump
Donald Trump‘s victory has always been remarkable with the challenges he faces during the campaign. The former president had never conceded defeat four years ago when his supporters stormed the US and he returned to the White House with a wider margin than before.
At 78, Mr Trump will be the oldest President during his inauguration scheduled on January 20. Whereas, if Ms. Harris had won, she would have been the first woman President of the US. ”It’s a political victory that our country has never seen before,” Mr Trump said in his victory speech.
Many global leaders have pledged to work with Mr Trump despite the concerns in some parts of the world about his “America first” approach. Among the most worried countries will be Ukraine which Russia invaded in 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first leaders to congratulate Mr Trump saying he looks forward to working closely with him to strengthen India-US relations across various sectors. PM Modi wrote in a post on X,
“Had a great conversation with my friend, President Donald Trump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defense, energy, space, and several other sectors.”

The Ukrainian President also congratulated Trump and said he hoped that the new US leader would help Ukraine find peace. Ms. Harris entered in July after Joe Biden dropped out. She ran a campaign that highlighted Mr Trump’s inflammatory messaging and use of racist troops. However, his apocalyptic warnings about immigration found their mark with voters bartered by the post-Covid economy and eager for change after the Biden rule.
The outcome of this election has been in controversy, reflecting the deep divisions within the United States. As the country moves forward, it will be crucial for leaders on both sides to find a bridge for this division and work towards a more unified and inclusive future.
