The number of devices that the Prime members of India can use their accounts on presently includes mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs, up to 10 in total. From next year, however, users can only log into five devices and have up to two for their TV. This change aims to end password sharing, something already barred by most other streaming sites, such as Netflix.

Subscribers can manage their devices through the Prime settings page. These include removing old devices and replacing them with new ones. If you need more devices, you can just buy an extra Prime membership.

Moreover, Amazon provides 30 days for users to calibrate their devices. During this time, you can remove and replace up to two devices.

In 2025, ads will also be shown on Amazon Prime Video in India. This follows Netflix’s move to include ads on its platform. Amazon says the ads will be less intrusive compared to traditional TV, and they will offer a new ad-free Prime tier for those who prefer not to see commercials.

Subscription Plans In India

Amazon Prime’s subscription plans will remain mostly the same. The annual membership costs ₹1,499, with options for ₹299 per month and ₹599 per quarter. There are also cheaper options like the Prime Lite plan (₹799 annually) and the Prime Shopping Edition plan (₹399 annually), which offer fewer features but at a lower price.

These changes might feel somewhat limited for some users, but there is a broader trend across platforms to limit access and prevent password sharing. The ultimate goal is to encourage more people to sign up for individual accounts. Current users may see some level of impact on the convenience they used to enjoy.

In 2025, it will be interesting to see how users respond to these changes and whether they decide to stick with Amazon Prime or explore other options.
