1. Bhangarh Fort, India

Bhangarh Fort / Kila is located on the way to Alwar and Jaipur in Rajasthan in India. Coming to the background, there was a black magic sorcerer who cursed the residents of the palace that they all would die an unnatural death and their spirits will stay there for centuries to haunt the fort forever. This fort would really give a spooky experience for any person.

The village households found here are without roofs as there persists a popular belief and experience that the moment a rooftop is built on a house it collapses. This is said to be the most haunted place in India. People are not allowed to spend the night in the fort, for obvious reasons.

Government prohibited this area from staying after sunset. You will find a board installed by Archaeological Survey of India displaying “Staying after sunset is strictly prohibited in this area”. Believe us it is also said that anybody who has been to this place after dusk never comes back !!

2. Screaming Tunnel, Niagara Falls, Ontario

This one is definitely for the brave hearts who boasts of their fearless spirits. This is located beneath the railway track that links Niagara falls to Toronto and New York. Coming to the background, about a century ago there was a farm house located just near the south entrance of this tunnel.

One night the farm house caught fire and a young girl doused in flame screaming for help running wild. Nobody knows the story how the farm house caught fire. She ran through the tunnel if in case she could get some help but alas she was burnt completely and collapsed.

According to one legend, the little girl’s father had became enraged after losing a custody battle over her and chased her into the tunnel, doused her with gasoline, and burned her alive. So, if you light a match in the middle of the tunnel, it will blow out and you will hear the scream of the little girl and people who have visited there have had the feeling of being watched. So, whoever tries lighting a match in the tunnel the spirit comes out screaming and haunting the person till dead. Check out for yourself the truth!

3. Changi Beach – Singapore

Changi Beach in Singapore is the ultimate one. The Changi beach in Singapore is believed of being a popular killing ground of the Chinese soldiers by the Japanese during the second world war.

Thousands of Chinese soldiers were tortured and killed during this operation as they were suspected by the Japanese of getting into anti Japanese activities. This beach stands witness to the killing of innumerable innocent chinese. Till date beach combers thronging to this place could hear the screams and weeping of people. Often at night people could also find deep dig pits as that needed for burials of dead bodies. The most horrifying is that some beach combers have found headless bodies of chinese soldiers on the beach at night. More scary cases include a passerby witnessing a ghostly execution leaving blood stains, etc.

4. Monte Cristo, New South Wales, Australia

Cristo means “Mount of Christ” and is located in Junee, New South Wales, Australia. It was built in 1884 by Christopher William Crawley, a local wealthy farmer. He was married to Elizabeth, a hard and ruthless woman who was rumoured to have ruled the household with an iron fist. Monte Cristo is one of the most haunted places in the world. Monte Cristo has been plagued by many horrific incidents and deaths over the years. The house and grounds are reported to have seven ghostly residents, although there could be more. Not surprisingly, the homestead is known as ‘Australia’s Most Haunted House’.

Christopher Crawley died at Monte Cristo on December 14, 1910, at the age of sixty-nine from heart failure due to a gangrenous abscess on his neck developed from constant rubbing of his starched collars.

After the death of her husband, Elizabeth converted an upstairs box room into a chapel and retreated into deep mourning. She is reputed to have left the homestead only twice in the twenty-three years between her husband’s death and her own death, from a ruptured appendix, on August 12,1933, at age ninety-two. She is often seen in the converted chapel , dressed in black and carrying a large silver cross. Her ghost has been known to order people out of the Dining Room and her presence is felt when a room suddenly becomes icy cold. Her presence is very domineering and she is very particular to what happens in the house.In 1948, the last of the Crawleys left the homestead, and Monte Cristo fell into disrepair. In 1963 Reginald Ryan, a tailor from Wagga Wagga, his wife, Olive, and their three children moved into Monte Cristo and he restored the house to its former glory.

Over the years , the mansion has been rife with sightings of ghosts and appalling incidents and horrific deaths. A maid fell from the balcony which led to her subsequent death, the blood stained steps were cleaned and to this day, you can still see the discolouration from the bleach. A woman died in one of the beds while giving birth and a maid dropped a little girl down the stairs and the girl died later on. The maid claimed that an “unseen force ” had supposedly pushed her. Kids are reported to be unruly around the stairs. Even though the entire house is carpeted, footsteps have been heard as though walking on a wooded flooring. Monte Cristo has been visited over the years by many paranormal investigators and has been shown on various television shows.

5. Highgate Cemetery, North London, England

Many famous people are buried there, such as Karl Marx, Douglas Adams, and the parents of Charles Dickens but is also long been known for ghosts, sinister activities, and other strangeness, including the Highgate Vampire. It is designated Grade I on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England. It is divided into two parts, named the East and West cemetery. There are approximately 170,000 people buried in around 53,000 graves at Highgate Cemetery. Amongst top haunted places in the world, the most famous spooky story of this cemetery is the Highgate Vampire, which is really not a vampire but a phantom that is described as a 7-ft-tall male figure with hypnotic eyes and wearing a long black coat.

Many people have sighted the Highgate Vampire now and then. The Highgate Vampire is said to cause dramatic drops in temperature, clocks to simultaneously stop, objects to fly from shelves or mysteriously shatter, and have a dramatic effect upon animals in it’s vicinity. A floating ghost of a nun which has been seen passing over the graveyard. During the late 60s and early 70s, the cemetery was used for witchcraft practices which caused an unhappy spirit to roam. For the past 36 years, the visitors would sometimes encounter the violent entity, leaving all kinds of noticeable marks,cuts etc. Some were bashed, some violently attacked, the authorities decided to close off most of the cemetery to the public. In 1970, a woman’s badly charred body was found decapitated, stories started flying out thick and fast that the Vampire can actually kill.

6. Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh Castle is one of the most haunted locations in Scotland, and Edinburgh itself has been called the most haunted city in all of Europe. The Castle’s dungeons have frequent paranormal sightings and are haunted by ghosts of former prisoners.

Edinburgh Castle sits on top of Castle Rock, an extinct volcano and has been a fortification for over 2,000 years. The castle is protected to the north, south and west by sheer cliffs rising 400 feet above sea level. Access to the castle is by a steep road on the eastern side. The castle from its high position dominates views of the city of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh has a hidden underworld to which the castle is strongly connected, a series of secret tunnels leading from Edinburgh castle down the Royal Mile. One of these is rumoured to lead to Holyrood House. Holyrood house itself is closely associated with Scotland’s turbulent past, including Mary, Queen of Scots, who lived here between 1561 and 1567. Successive kings and queens have made the Palace of Holyrood house the premier royal residence in Scotland; even today it’s still a royal residence.

When the tunnels were first discovered several hundred years ago, a piper was sent to explore. As he navigated the tunnels he played his bagpipes so that his progress could be tracked by those above. About half way down the Royal Mile the piping suddenly stopped. When a rescue party was sent, there was no trace of the piper. He had simply vanished. Several search parties went into the tunnel system but no trace of the piper was ever found.

The piper’s ghost still haunts Edinburgh today, walking endlessly along the underground tunnel beneath the Royal Mile. His music can sometimes be heard from within the castle and on the streets above the tunnels.

Many people have heard the sound of ghostly drums within Edinburgh castle; however few have seen the drummer. The reason for this is the drummer ghost only appears when the castle is about to be attacked something that hasn’t happened for some time.

The ghost drummer was first witnessed before Cromwell’s attack on the castle in 1650 and is reported to take the form of a headless boy. Who the boy was and why he now haunts Edinburgh castle is not known.

7. Helltown

Helltown is situated in the Northern Summit Country, Ohio. It came into being in 70s and was a prominent site of buyout. The houses of those days were torn down and it took the form of an amusement park. The dark wooden landscape is of Helltown is scary because the people’s souls whose houses were torn wander in the town. According to the ghost-story tellers the Helltown is not a fit point for the tourists, there is only room for ghost-haunters to go there and explore the hidden secrets. A few of the ghost-haunters lost their lives during their stay at the Helltown. This is why, even the professional and experienced haunters hesitate to go there.
