Indian films have lots of popularity especially in Pakistan. However, theater owners and exhibitors in Pakistan temporarily stopped screening Indian films last year after Pakistani artistes and technicians were banned by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) from in India.
But, local distributors from Pakistan requested for Dangal (2016) to be released there just a few days ago. Initially, Dangal team was absolutely okay with that but Aamir Khan decided not to release movie in Pakistan after knowing their unrealistic demand.
Pakistan censor board demanded to cut the scenes with the Indian flag and the national anthem from Dangal.
Mobashir Hasan, Pakistan's Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) head, said: "Yes, the board unanimously decided to skip two scenes."
Asked why the Indian flag and anthem needed to be cut, Hasan said: "The decision is the collective wisdom of the board, it was now up to the local distributor — Geo Films — to release it or not".
Aamir Khan has decided not to release the movie in Pakistan. 'Dangal' is a movie inspired by the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trains his daughters to become wrestling champions.
Reacting to this, Twitter users started applauding him for his decision and also there are people who are scolding him sarcastically too.
