Arvind Kejriwal has proposed Atishi’s name to be the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Atishi is known for her role in Delhi’s famed education reforms.
Atishi Is The New Chief Minister Of Delhi
Arvind Kejriwal has chosen Atishi to be the next CM of Delhi. She appealed to the voters of Delhi to “make your son, your brother, the Chief Minister again” in the Assembly election, which is due in February of next year.

She got associated with AAP in 2013. Atishi became minister at 43 when Mr. Sisodia was arrested in a corruption case that was linked to liquor policy. She holds multiple portfolios, which include finance, education, and PWD.
Atishi told the reporters,
“Arvind believed in me… AAP believed in me. That is why I have been given the responsibility. While I am happy in this trust, I am also sad Arvind Kejriwal had to resign.” She added further, “Delhi has only one Chief Minister, and that is Kejriwal.”
Ministers like Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, and Saurabh Bharadwaj were also on the list of contenders. Insiders reveal that the wives of Arvind Kejriwal, Sunita Kejriwal, and Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel were also possible.
Arvind Kejriwal To Submit Resignation Letter Today
Today, Kejriwal will formally inform his resignation after Lt. Governor VK Saxena at 4:30 PM (17-09-2024). Saxena gave Kejriwal an appointment at 4:30 PM.
In the morning hours, around 11:20 AM, the meeting of party MLAs was held at Kejriwal’s residence. At the start of the meeting, AAP national general secretary Sandeep Pathak addressed the situation. A party functionary said,
“The name of the new CM will be announced at noon today after the legislative party meeting.”
The Delhi Assembly will get everyone together for a meeting on the 26 and 27 September. Saurabh Bharadwaj said to the reporters, “As much as I know Arvind Kejriwal’s politics, he won’t do that. Sunita Ji herself is not interested.”
Arvind Kejriwal Announced His Resignation On Sunday
Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation from the post of CM on Sunday (15-09-2024) when he was out on bail. He expressed his thoughts about returning to CM’s chair when he is certified as honest. Atishi said all the allegations against AAP leaders are fake and defended them, saying it was all a conspiracy. She referred to CBI and ED, saying, “BJP imposed fake cases on the AAP… made up charges against Arvind Kejriwal..but the Supreme Court gave its decision. And that decision was a slap on agencies.”
BJP leaders are calling Kejriwal’s resignation a drama. They believe it is done to generate sympathy ahead of the Assembly election. To which Kejriwal and Sisodia said they want a clean check from the voters of their state to support the bail orders of the Supreme Court.
