What Actually Happened?
For allegedly defrauding him of Rs. 1.55 crore, actor Vivek Oberoi has lodged a fraud complaint against at least three of his business associates. Oberoi claims that the defendant persuaded the actor to spend money in a company that produces events and movies by promising him significant financial rewards. The accused, however, eventually exploited the funds for improper self-gain. Mumbai’s MIDC police are looking into the situation.
Sanjay Shah, Nandita Shah, Radhika Nanda, and other alleged partners of Anandita Entertainment LLP are the targets of a police complaint that the actor’s company, Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP, has asked chartered accountant Deven Bafna to make on his behalf.
How Did Vivek Oberoi Meet Sanjay?
In April 2017, the actor and his wife Priyanka established Oberoi Organic LLP, which produces, purchases, and sells organic goods. However, after three years, they considered closing the business since there was less of a market for organic goods.
The actor allegedly met Sanjay at this time, who was involved in planning events and making movies. After seeing his expertise in the event and film sectors, Oberoi teamed with him to arrange events in the film industry.
Oberoi and Sanjay met in February 2020 to discuss the business agreement and came to an understanding of the conditions at a five-star hotel in Andheri.
Anandita Entertainment LLP
In accordance with the police complaint, between July and September 2020, Oberoi Organic LLP’s business objective and name were altered to Anandita Entertainment LLP, which would plan happenings for the film industry and make films by their understandings and agreements.
Anandita Entertainment LLP additionally included Sanjay and his mother’s names as partners. Sanjay’s acquaintance Radhika was also named a partner in the company, and Priyanka, the actor’s wife, had to resign.
The actor left Anandita Entertainment LLP after six months as one of the partners. Also, he substituted his stake (33.33%) and post with his own Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP, according to the police. The actor contributed Rs 95.72 lakh to Anandita Entertainment LLP up to November 2021.

Oberoi found that Sanjay had lied to Zee5 executives about making the movie “Ganshe.” He had also established a different company called Anandita Studios Pvt. Ltd. Further, Nawazuddin Siddiqui repaid Rs 51 lakh to Oberoi after Siddiqui was told of the scam by Oberoi. Sanjay and the other defendants allegedly received Rs 60 lakh as payment for Oberoi’s attendance as guests. Under Sections 406, 409, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, Sanjay, his mother Nandita, and Radhika were detained when Oberoi made a police complaint.
