A 27-year-old Mumbai based woman has approached the Supreme Court, saying her husband is highly addicted to adult videos and movies that it is ruining her family life. She now blames the various adult websites for her situation.
She says that this addiction of her husband to adult websites and videos has crossed the limits to the extreme point. In addition, she tells now he is indifferent to his wife and family’s needs. He has also been insisting on a divorce by mutual consent and has already moved the family court. She had come to know her husband was addicted to porn from his teenage. The woman has moved with the help of her lawyer Kamlesh Vaswani and seeks to file a complaint to ban all adult websites.
About The Complaint
While filing the complaint here is what she mentions in her affidavit: “My husband has been an addict of porn and spends a lot of his precious time watching porn.” Adding to it she says,”He is suffering from lack of virility and vitality and thus is unable to initiate sexual intercourse. However, my husband has at times forced me to have unnatural oral sex with him against my wishes. Thus he is exhibiting abnormal behavior ruining my married life.”
“The easy availability of porn in India is a serious barrier to the progress of this nation. Because a whole new generation is adversely affected leading to perversion of youth, loss of moral and spiritual values . These if not checked can lead to total lack of productivity, rise in sex crimes, matrimonial disputes and a state of doom…,” she had added to her statement.
The Supreme court has been looking out for ways to ban watching adult videos in public area. Moreover, it is also consulting with the government to make it a crime as well. However, the Central government says it favours banning child pornography sites but not beyond that since it considers a citizen’s right to privacy.
