Child Molestation Is Big Concern
Admittedly India is no safe country for women, as day after day we hear the news of sexual assaults against women. However, not only women but men also end up being the victim of it. Furthermore the most anxious topic is the child molestation. The little children seem like the easy victims for the assaulters. Pursuing this further, this time Akshay Kumar revealed his story of molestation at the age of 6.
Young Boys As Much As Young Girls
The young boys are targeted as much as the young girls. The young boys at “Dhabas” and with truck drivers usually face this. No doubt, sodomy is an overlooked but serious threat to the societies.
Akshay Also Has Faced Something
Akshay Kumar told how the liftman tried to make him the victim but due to the frank behavior of his parents encouraged him to speak up. He reported it to his father.
Here is the story in his own words.
"When I was a child, my parents always encouraged me to speak to them frankly about everything. Whether it was discussing a sexual issue or inappropriate behavior, I was asked to come home and talk frankly.
When I was six, I was on my way to a neighbors' house when the lift man touched my butt. I was really agitated and told my father (Hari Om Bhatia) about it. He filed a police complaint. Investigations revealed that the lift-man was a history-sheeter.
The cops took action and the man was arrested. I was a shy kid and was relieved that I could speak about this to my parents. But even today, I find it difficult to say the word 'bum'. We must encourage women and children to speak up and tell their families if they encounter anything strange so that they can be protected and empowered."
Parents And Children Interaction Should Be Frank
He stated how the frank interaction of his parents and him (Akshay) help him to fight that big problem. However sometimes the children are too shy to say anything and they do not speak out these kinds of incidents. Continuing further, the actor stated he was a shy kid and was relieved that he was actually able to speak it to their parents.
It Is Not Awkward Just Tell Them
The children found it awkward to speak these kinds of words or incident so that is why, we hear about their story when they are grown up. So, with a piece of advice Akshay ended the topic. “We must encourage the women and children to speak up to their parents if they witness anything strange”.
