The controversies usually surround the game of Cricket. Moreover, Match fixing has been a notorious subject about the game. Recently, new controversies have gained heat and it suggests that 3 test matches were fixed and these matches featured Indian cricket team. According to a documentary, three test matches are the subject of Match Fixing. Al Jazeera has exposed a match-fixer, Aneel Munawar who was the reason behind the spot-fixing.

The documentary has been titled as “Cricket Match Fixers”. And it states that the Galle Test between Sri Lanka and India (26th to 29th July 2017), Australia v/s India test match in Ranchi (16th March to 20th March 2017) and England V/S India Test match (16th December to 20th December) were fixed.

Harrison reported that 3 Srilankan-internationals – Tharindu Mendis, Jeevantha Kulatunga, and Dilhara Lokuhettige along with Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza are the names in the fixing. They doctored the pitch just to get the desired outcome of the match.

The Curator of Galle Stadium claimed that the India-Australia match in 2016 was a subject of Match-Fixing. In the match, Australia lost in two and a half days. Moreover, he also admitted of doctoring the pitch in July 2017. In that match, India knocked 600 runs in the first innings.

 

ICC Has Started Investigation

The documentary has gained the heat and ICC has started an investigation in this regard. According to sources, ICC said, “We have already launched an investigation working with anti-corruption colleagues from Member countries based on the limited information we have received. We have made repeated requests that all evidence and supporting materials relating to corruption in cricket is released immediately to enable us to undertake a full and comprehensive investigation.”
