Star-studded, the occasion took place at Mumbai’s Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre and served as a glamorous beginning to the three-day wedding party that will end on July 12. The groom, dressed by famous stylist Shaleena Nathani, donned a royal blue bandhgala suit named “The Midnight Garden” that was intricately embroidered with zari, french knots, and vasli, creating a captivating combination of zardozi patterns. The intricate zardozi stitch combination is displayed in the intricate needlework embellishments, which took six weeks to complete. An additional week was needed for tailoring and also finishing the entire look. The fitted jacket has a front button fastening, a split Mandarin collar, and gold embroidery. It needed to be the pinnacle of royal elegance.
The designers stated, “It had to be the ultimate masterpiece of regal luxury. This bandhgala is an absolute labor of love and divinely detailed.” The youngest of Nita and Mukesh Ambani’s children has a taste for accessories and amasses an incredible collection of rare timepieces valued at around Rs 200 crore. Unsurprisingly, Anant kept the rest of his appearance understated with pulled-back hair. Further, he accessorized his sangeet look with a diamond-studded tiger brooch.

According to Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, “We had created a small swatch and showed it to Anant and he fell absolutely in love with it.” But Anant Ambani had one particular request, the designer pair said: “That we recreate this using real gold thread and zari.” “He is a connoisseur of couture and hand embroidery, and relishes ensembles that are lavish and complex,” said Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Further, they added, “He is completely at home with a maximalist style that truly celebrates couture at its most elevated. He is truly a 21st-century Maharaja when it comes to his style.”

For her sangeet festivities, the bride, Radhika Merchant, also donned a specially designed Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla attire. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Merchant wore a multi-paneled tissue lehenga in light pastel colors. Additionally, it was hand-embroidered Swarovski crystals, reminiscent of chandeliers. She accessorized it with a pistachio-green dupatta wrapped over her arm and an off-the-shoulder crystal statement top.
