Right since the moment when ZEE5’s Parchhayee premiered, it has been feeding to the horror thirsts of the viewers. Episodes after episodes, we were hooked to the spine chilling stories. Moreover, each time it feeds our horror thirst and keeps us tied up for the next one. No doubt Ruskin Bond is adroit in his field but the show makers have done an amazing job bringing the stories alive on the screen. Check out our top picks from Parchhayee: Ghost Stories by Ruskin Bond so far.
1. Episode 9 – Night Of The Millennium
As the title of the Parchhayee episode 9 suggests, it is about a night that changed everything for Jimmy (Naveen Kasturia). Jimmy, who is an ambitious man decides to buy a mansion which is supposed to be haunted. He paid almost zero attention to the rumors and checks it by himself. He spends a night there and the things do not end well. The beautiful Gauhar Khan accompanied him inside the mansion and together they see the real face of evil. The way the writers have weaved the concept of karma into a horror narrative makes this episode a must-watch.
2. Episode 7 – Topaz
Sumeet Vyas and Isha Talwar joined the cast of Parchhayee in this one. Sumeet played the character of Jayant who is an engineer and is on a forest survey. There he meets Hameeda (Talwar) who tries to warn him about a potential danger that he may face in the jungle. Eventually, a spirit is found guarding the jungle and that brought chaos in the life of Jayant. Both Isha and Sumeet have done a great job with their respective characters and the episode is written perfectly to scare the hell out of us. Apart from that, the jungle locations add to the spookiness of the episode.
3. Episode 5 – Astley Ka Intezaar
Titled as “Astley Ka Intezaar”, the episode revolves around the story of Robert Astley, who has gone missing for the past three decades and has been assumed dead by most of the people. However, Prem Bahadur (Shakti Kapoor) is his butler and Prem believes that his master would return one day. Moreover, with this hope, he takes care of the Astley mansion (The Casa). But the things get messy when Prem’s daughter and son-in-law visit him and try to take over the property. This episode features one of the best performances by Shakti Kapoor till date. Apart from the performance, the overall melancholic vibe of the episode is incredibly engrossing right till the end.
4. Episode 4 – Wilson’s Bridge
Wilson’s Bridge is among one of the best episodes. It revolves around the story of five friends who try to solve a mystery. The mystery revolves around a Pahari girl named Gulabi who commits suicide from Wilson’s bridge every night. This episode is quite different than any other horror story as here the five friends had a slight idea about what they were getting into. This possibly one of the most heartbreaking episodes in the series. Keep some tissues ready before starting this episode.
5. Episode 2 – The Wind On The Haunted Hill
The second episode of the series introduced the real horror. Titled as The Wind On The Haunted Hill, the episode tells the story of a 12-year-old girl named Usha. During heavy rain, Usha is forced to take shelter in ruins however, the ruins had something that probably no one would like to see. Apart from the thrills and horror, the episode delivered quite some emotional content during the climax, giving it a perfect finish for a memorable impact.
