Travelling on these dangerous roads gives experiences of meeting death. If you could safely return from these places, you are damn lucky.

 

1. Leh – Manali Highway

This road connects Leh in Jammu and Kashmir to Manali. It is highly dangerous road which spans over 476 kilometers. The road is filled with snow, water crossings, broken patches and surrounded with Rocky Mountains. And you know, it has more traffic jams making it more complicated.

 

2. Munnar Road

It is surely the beautiful and enchanted spot but it gives a breathtaking experience. It is hill station located in Kerala which is of height 1700 meters above sea level. The road is not properly visible sometimes due to thick fog and also buses and trucks are driven very carelessly.

No doubt that this zig zag road located in Sikkim gives you mind-blowing scenic view. The road gives the best view of Himalayas as the road is at 11,200 ft above the sea level. But wait, this is not for faint-hearted. You need to take special permissions to reach here as travelling on these roads makes you dizzy.

 

4. Mount Abu

This is the popular hill station of Rajasthan state. As you move close to hill station, the roads have steepy curves and can accommodate for only one vehicle to pass through where as mount cliffs on one side.

 

5. Khardung La Pass

If you are a bike trip lover and adventurous, this is for you as it is the highest motor-able road in the world. It is located in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. The roads are so slippery due to frozen ice and with deep valleys on one side.

 

6. Rohtang Pass

Rohtang means “Ground of corpses”, that’s itself says it is dangerous. It is located on the eastern Pir Panjal range of Himalayas at an elevation of 3,979 meters above sea level. It is just 53 kilometers to Manali. Rohtang pass is usually open from May to November and encounters heavy traffic jams. The road is filled with heavy snow fall and gets covered with slush.

 

7.  Zoji La Pass

It is one of the most dangerous mountain pass in India which is traversed by Srinagar-Leh highway.The pass is highly risky due to violent winds, heavy snowfall and frequent landslides. If rained, the road gets muddy easily.

 

8. Kishtwar-Kailash Road

The one lane path is so terrible that one hasty move could land you on your deathbed. Your GPS also won’t work here. The road traverses through the newly formed Jammu and Kashmir district.

 

9. Kinnaur road

It is located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The road is so narrow and deadly that you need to take curvy turns to reach destination. You need to be highly careful while driving through this route.
