After two stunning games from the previous day, Day 18 FIFA 2018 had two games lined up. The matches were between Spain vs Russia and Croatia vs Denmark. Read on for the summaries of the matches from Day 18.

 

Spain Vs Russia

 The match took place at Luzhniki Stadium. Russia was off to a bad start as Sergei Ignashevich scored an own goal, giving Spain the lead at the 12th minute. The ball struck his heel while he was defending and the ball made its way into the net. But soon enough, Artem Dzyuba leveled the score out when he scored the Penalty goal with his efforts at the 41st minute. The score at halftime was 1 – 1. Despite several efforts, the score was 1 – 1 till the end of the match. There were a lot of attempts from both teams but none successful. At the end of the extra time too, the score remained the same. Thus, the penalty shots began.

Andres Iniesta scored first for Spain. Following him, Fyodor Smolov scored one for Russia. Pique scored the 2nd goal for Spain which was followed by Sergei’s goal for Russia. The score was even and went on the same till Koke missed a penalty shot for Spain. Russia made use of the chance and steered to lead as Aleksandr Golovin landed the 3rd penalty shot. The score was now 2 – 3. Sergio Ramos scored the 3rd goal for Spain. Denis Cheryshev hit the last shot for Russia, giving Russia the 4th goal and the victory because Iago Aspas missed Spain’s penalty shot, giving Russia the victory. Russia won with a score 1 (4) – 1 (3).

 

Croatia Vs Denmark

 The match took place at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium. Denmark steered towards the lead very early as Mathias Jorgensen scored the first goal of the match at the very first minute. It was soon leveled out by Croatia with their first goal at the 4th minute. The score was leveled and remained the same through halftime. Despite several attempts, the score remained constant till the end of the match and during the extra time. Thus, the penalty shoots began.

Christian Eriksen for Denmark and Milan Badelj for Croatia both missed their penalty shots. Simon Kjaer gave Denmark the lead when he scored a penalty shot. Andrej Kramaric leveled it as he scored one for Croatia. It was followed by Michael Krohn-Dehli’s goal for Denmark. Luka Modric then scored for Croatia. There were three consecutive misses after that, Lasse Schone for Denmark, Josip Pivaric for Croatia and Nicolai Jorgensen again for Denmark. Croatia won the game when Ivan Rakitic landed the goal. Croatia won the game with a score of 1 (3) – 1 (2).
