Remember the old days as freshers when we wait days to get the joining date? Even during COVID-19, many people lost their job. People spent hours conducting online interviews to get their dream jobs. Not only employees but even recruiters face a tough time getting the right candidate for the job. The process takes weeks and even months to get the suitable candidate onboard to fulfill all the requirements. Also, the candidate’s notice period or commitment from their current organization makes this wait a little longer, two to three months. Some candidates do not value the chance they get and back off at the very last minute. This really pissed off the recruiters as they might have spent their time and money to get you onboard. It can happen with any organization when candidates refuse to join just before the joining date. Prashant Pitti, the co-founder of EaseMyTrip, shared a chat with the candidate on Twitter in which the candidate backed off at the last minute.

Prashant Pitti has shared a screenshot on the micro-blogging site Twitter where the candidate refused to join the company before the official joining date. The candidate claims to get a better offer from another company. Sharing the screenshot, Prashant Pitti has asked for the resolution of this problem. He argues that other potential candidates are rejected when a candidate accepts an offer letter. As a result, the organization has to wait for months to get the right candidate to join.
He further asked if companies reject a candidate on the day of their joining and say they found a better candidate. Is it acceptable?
Ashneer Grover, one of the sharks in Shark Tank India, also voiced his opinion on the same. He said,
“Prashant – In India there is no value of contract – neither would you go after someone nor would they as legal system is broken and expensive. So in India it’s – ek haath le doosre haath de. Best to tone down your expectation that you employ daily wagers in guise of salaried folk”
Many people even support the candidate, and you might be in trouble choosing between the two. Check out some of the tweets.
