The artist painted a very similar painting with the same name. However, this one covers the entire female body from head to toe and is a lot bigger than the first one. The same person bought the painting, Liu Yiqian, to display in his Shanghai museums.

Le Rêve translates to “the dream”; it was one of the most iconic works of Pablo Picasso. The painting portrays Pablo’s Mistress, Marie-Thérèse Walter. It is said that the painting was painted completely in one afternoon. It was sold to Steven A Cohen in a private sale in March 2013.

Coming at number 14 on our list of most expensive paintings is another painting by Gustav Klimt. Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer II is less famous of the two paintings he painted for Bloch-Bauer. Unfortunately, both paintings were stolen by the Nazis during World War II. However, the two were retrieved and donated to Vienna’s Galerie Belvedere museum.

Francis Bacon painted this piece of his friend and rival Lucian Freud in 1969. Eventually, it became one of the most expensive and famous paintings ever. Elaine Wynn could not take her eyes off the painting during an auction in 2013 and bought the painting for $ 142 million.
