We never know what a person is going through from inside. Many celebrities suffer mental health issues. Some of them even take the drastic step of suicide. Recently, a famous, popular and successful Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide. There have been many suicidal incidents in the Indian film industry over the past few years. Here is the list of Indian actors who took this extreme step to end their life.
1. Sai Prashanth
Popular Tamil TV actor Sai Prashanth started his career as a video jockey and hosted a popular show, ‘Dil Dil Manadhil’. He is known for working in serials such as ‘Annamalai’, ‘Selvi’ and ‘Arasi’, Prashant also starred in Tamil films like ‘Neram’, ‘Thegidi’ and ‘Vadacurry’. He committed suicide at his residence in Chennai by mixing poison in his drink and consumed it.
In his suicide note, Prashanth said his second wife Sujitha or for that no one else should be blamed for his decision. He also said that his death would not create any problems for Sujitha and that his parents would return all her jewellery along with Rs.500,000. The actor also wrote that he was a ‘problem’ for himself.
2. Silk Smitha
Silk Smitha who was s*x symbol in the South film industry acted in over 400 films which even included Bollywood movies. Silk Smitha had contacted her friend, dancer Anuradha, to discuss a matter that was disturbing her on the night of September 22, 1996.
But, Anuradha said she could not come during the night, as her husband would be coming home shortly, but would meet her in the morning. On the morning of September 23, 1996, Smitha was found dead in her Chennai home. The reason behind her death remains a mystery.
3. Sushant Singh Rajput
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide at his Mumbai residence. He was just 34. Sushant Singh Rajput found hanging at his Bandra residence. He started his carrier as a television actor and got fame from the famous serial Pavitra Rishtaa. Sushant Singh Rajput did many brilliant movies like PK, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath, and most recently, Chhichhore.
4. Uday Kiran
Tollywood actor began his career with a hat-trick of super hits in the early 90s, hung himself at his flat. There are rumors that he was intentionally sidelined by the top stars and producers after his immensely successful initial years. A day after his death, sources claimed that depression might have driven Telugu actor Uday Kiran to end his life.
