The alleged gunman, named as Nikolas Cruz, 19,  had previously attended the high school and was expelled for unspecified disciplinary reasons.

This event has sparked a lot of outrage and a lot of people and celebrities have raised their voice demanding justice and action to be taken against such hate violence and crimes. It is very disheartening and sad to see such young kids die due to distressed and mentally sick people having access to guns causing a lot of gun violence in the US.

At least 17 people were killed in the shooting on Wednesday, with 12 slain inside the school, according to Broward Sheriff Scott Israel. Three other victims were shot outside the building and on a nearby street corner, and an additional two victims died at nearby hospitals. Sheriff Israel told CBS and other media that a football coach was among the victims.

Authorities at two nearby hospitals said they were treating 13 survivors for bullet wounds and other injuries, five of whom were listed in critical condition. A football coach at the Florida high school where a gunman killed at least 17 people is being hailed a hero after reportedly throwing himself in front of students to protect them.
