On 9 September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the adoption of the New Delhi G20 Leaders declaration. PM Modi said, “History has been created by adopting the New Delhi Leader’s Declaration. African Union Is A Permanent Part Of The G20 Summit

Right before the first session, PM Narendra Modi announced that the African Union will now be part of the ‘Group of 20’, as a permanent member. PM Modi announced the membership via an X post. He penned,

“It is an honour to welcome the @_AfricanUnion to the G20 fold. India believes in a collaborative future and this step further solidifies our collective commitment to global progress. Here’s to a bright future for the Global South.”

Moreover, a consensus has also been reached by the G20 leaders regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The leaders have decided that all the states must ‘refrain from the threat, or use, of force to seek territorial acquisition.’ Further, they also said that the use of nuclear weapons shall be ‘inadmissible.’ The declaration did not condemn Russia for its attack directly. Instead, they highlighted deep concern for the immense human suffering and the impact of wars and conflicts around the world.

According to the declaration, “We call on all states to uphold the principles of international law including territorial integrity and sovereignty, international humanitarian law and the multilateral system that safeguards peace and stability.”

 

India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor

A decision was taken to make a plan to establish an ambitious India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor. This will encourage and provide impetus to economic development with the help of better, enhanced connectivity and economic integration between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. PM Narendra Modi shared an X post regarding the topic. It read, “Sharing my remarks at the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment and India-Middle East-Europe Economics Corridor event during G20 summit.”

Moreover, US President Joe Biden also shared an  X post regarding the same topic. He wrote, “I’m proud to announce that the U.S., India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, France, Germany, Italy, and EU finalized a historic agreement for a new India-Middle East-Europe Economic corridor. This project is more about just laying tracks. This is a game-changing regional investment.”

 

Launch Of Global Biofuels Alliance Announced At G20 Summit

India announced the launch of the Global Biofuels Alliance, one of the top priorities under India’s G20 presidency. This alliance was announced in the presence of US President Joe Biden, President of Argentina Alberto Fernandez, President of Brazil Luiz Inacio, Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, and several other heads. Responding to this, PM Modi posted on X, “The launch of the Global Biofuels Alliance marks a watershed moment in our quest for sustainability and clean energy. I thank the member nations who have joined this Alliance.
