6. Hardik Pandya (MI) – 91
Hardik Pandya a consistent powerpack performer for the Indians. Pandya smacked one of his best innings in 2019 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The right-handed batsman came out at number 6 while MI was chasing a target of huge 233 and was in a very disappointing position in the match. Mumbai Indians were at 58/4 when Pandya came out to bat. Hardik Pandya smashed 91 of just 34 deliveries with 6 fours and 9 sixes. However, the team lost the match but Pandya managed to make a record score at number 6.
7. Andre Russell (KKR) – 88*
The powerful West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell made an unbelievable unbeaten knock of 88 runs in mere 38 balls. The player was at his best form in the last two seasons, 2018 and 2019. He blew off the balling attack of CSK with his big-hitting skills. He is popularly known as ‘Russell-Muscle’. But to your surprise, CSK chased down the target.
8. Harbhajan Singh (MI) – 64
Harbhajan Singh was a part of Mumbai Indians for as many as 10 years since the inception of the IPL. In 2015 against a match with KXIP he scored a total of 64 runs in just 24 deliveries. This was a miraculous knock from Harbhajan as he is primarily a wrist spinner. Despite the quick knock, MI lost the match to KXIP by 18 runs.
9. Harbhajan Singh (MI) – 49*
Another record by the same man Harbhajan Singh was made long back in 2010. In a match against the Deccan Chargers Singh made a total of 49 runs in just 18 balls. If Singh could have scored just one run more he could have become the first batsman to score a half-century at number 9. Harbhajan Singh’s quick knock swiftly delivered victory to the Indians.
10. Dhawal Kulkarni (RR) – 28
Dhawal Kulkarni claimed this record in the 2014 IPL. The season was played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to security reasons regarding the general elections in India. Dhawal Kulkarni played the season for the Rajasthan Royals. In a match against CSK, while chasing the target of 141 RR’s batting formation fumbled and the team came down to 85/8. Dhawal Kulkarni came out to bat at number 10 and scored 28 runs. Howbeit, the runs were not enough to bring the ball back into RR’s court, but it did make a record in Kulkarni’s name.
11. Munaf Patel (RR) – 23*
Batting at the last position is not at all easy. Generally, the players have only an over or two when they come out at number 11. Munaf Patel, a player of Rajasthan Royals, created the record of the highest score at number 11 in a match against Delhi. Rajasthan’s batting line-up was crumbled down to 109/9 when Munaf came out to bat. The innings of Patel took the team to a total of 136/9 however the score was not easy to defend and RR lost the match.
As the saying goes, ‘Records are meant to be broken’ these were just some records that could be expected to break down soon. As the new generation will take up the fields there will be even higher standards for the tournament. The new generation carries a lot of spirit and zeal within them, these are the most important aspects of any game.
