From 2009 to 2021, when he was released, Rotunda worked for WWE. He made a triumphant comeback to the organization a year later at the Extreme Rules premium live event when he started acting out a complex plot involving Alexa Bliss and Uncle Howdy (a role played by his brother, former WWE star Bo Dallas).

However, it appears that the narrative was put on hold after Rotunda’s clash with LA Knight at the 2023 Royal Rumble. After that, Rotunda started a rivalry with Bobby Lashley ahead of WrestleMania 39, but he was taken off the air because of an unspecified ailment that was subsequently said to have jeopardized both his life and his career. The worst appeared to have subsided up to this point; as recently as August 10, wrestling media sites were claiming that Wyatt was feeling better and headed towards receiving a medical clearance to return.
