1. Research Impact And Citations Per Paper: This factor has been one of the key drivers. The improvement in research impact in terms of citations per paper. The three-digit score here quantifies its global influence through publications, and IIT Delhi did quite well with a score of 26.9 for the year 2025, after making a significant jump from 14.2 over the previous year. It is in comparison with IIT Bombay at 16.9, which is progress but still trailing behind its counterpart.

2. Academic Reputation: In terms of academic reputation, the most accurate indicator of what an institution represents in the academic world, was also good for the two. From 79.4 to 95, IIT Delhi has gone up. IIT Bombay managed to stay in the lead with 96.6 only. An increment of this kind would prove that IIT Delhi has become more and more prominent among scholars and academics with even further amplified collaboration efforts and research.

3. Faculty with PhD Credentials: The percentage of faculty holding PhDs is another metric where IIT Delhi made significant strides, increasing its score from 75.4 to 94.7. Traditionally, IIT Bombay had been ahead of the competition. Still, at 96.3, IIT Delhi’s performance has caught up with them, reflecting a commitment to add quality and retain high-quality faculty.

Employer Reputation And Industry Connections

Employer reputation, an indicator of how well-regarded graduates are in the job market, remains a crucial strength for both institutions. A score of 99.5 puts IIT Bombay at the top, while IIT Delhi comes in at 99. The strong scores in this area reflect the current needs in the industry of such graduates from these places with a reputation for demanding training and out-of-the-box thinking. Gaining into partnerships with IIT Delhi with leading global companies and government labs further cements the institution’s position as one that allows students to get the practical insights and experience that employers are asking for.

Expanding Global Presence: The Abu Dhabi Campus

Among all these efforts, the new Abu Dhabi campus recently introduced master’s and undergraduate programs. Reactions to the programs positively reinforce the international strength of IIT Delhi by attracting more international students and faculty in that form, thereby making it an integral part of the global academic community. This strategic initiative binds with IIT Delhi’s commitment to extend its research capabilities and educational influence beyond the Indian subcontinent.

Robust Research Funding and Infrastructure

The Institutions of Eminence initiative has enabled IIT Delhi to earmark more than Rs 200 crore for research infrastructure. This has upgraded its academic environment considerably and helped the institute maintain very high research standards that it adheres to. With a faculty strength of around 640, the institute’s research output is, in comparison with other Asian institutions, very competitive. It supports this success in both domestic and international rankings.
