This Year India Is Going To Be The Next Big Destination For Esports

via

India’s esports scene has been growing at a rapid pace with more and more people not only participating in these games but also taking them more seriously. Esports has mostly been popular in western countries who have made full-blown international championships and have some of the most impressive live tournaments in the world. But now it seems like India also wants to be at the forefront of the sports industry. There are a lot of reasons why India is now becoming one of the top countries in esports and one of them is definitely the increase in developers and web designers from India. The interest in this field has skyrocketed over the last few years creating more local talent, raising awareness and creating an environment where esports can actually be worth pursuing.

Competition From The East

It looks like the west will have more competition coming from the East as China is no longer the only country where esports has really taken off. This ties in with India’s increased interest in online gambling which is not yet legal but the talk about it is already being held. The benefits that could come from online gambling for real money across India, where the industry is practically unexplored are far too great to pass on. The fact that online gaming and betting is becoming so popular in India, access to mobile phones and good connections has now become a new normal for Indian youths. As technology is developing and becoming more accessible for teenagers they are more interested in mobile games, with PUBG being one of the top ones. The PUBG mobile tournament is getting more and more players on board with bigger prizes each time that add legitimacy and excitement to the game.

Esports Tournaments And Prizes Across India

India’s esports market grew exponentially last year. In 2014 the market was worth $253.6 million but towards the end of 2019, the game’s revenue reached $1.1 billion. The trend is showing no signs of stopping and the gaming community in India will probably just continue to rise as more people get into gaming and more tournaments are being held across the country.

Another important factor to consider when thinking about why esports is developing so fast in India is that the country has the youngest population in the world and around 600 million people all under the age of 25. This means that India is one of the hot spots for gaming and this potential is just starting to get the recognition.

It is quite likely that in the upcoming months the gaming community and the esports community will become much more powerful in India and we will be hearing a lot more about the successes of the local teams and seeing them in international competitions.

It’s nice to see that the good players don’t come only from the countries that have spent years developing their esports scene and India can be an example of an esports community that managed to reach success very quickly. The young population along with the widespread access to mobile devices has created a very good combination for the esports industry to flourish in India. Hopefully, this positive trend will continue to grow even faster this year

From football to hockey, basketball to volleyball, gymnastics to cricket, the world of sport is a part of so many people’s lives as participants and fans. Naturally then, this wide-reaching industry is frequently changing and evolving to improve not only player performance but fan enjoyment too.
