It is known that majority of the banks in India offer mobile banking services. According to RBI, out of 589 million bank account holders, 22 million account holders use mobile banking apps. But, those banking apps are found to be at risk.
Yes, when there is an increase in the number of mobile banking users, then it is accompanied by a rise in attacks through malware.
According to Quick Heal Security Labs, Android Banking Trojan targets 232-plus banking and finance apps where the malware app is being distributed through a fake Flash Player app. The malware named Android.banker.A9480 is designed to hijack SMSes, steal login credentials, show fake notifications, send USSD requests and upload users’ contact lists on a malicious server.

These days, we all prefer online transactions and that to through smart phones. So, always make sure that you won’t install apps from untrusted source. Also, log out and close the application. Beware of the fake applications that exactly has the same user interface as the original application.
