Winter is almost here. Recently, maximum states and cities of our country received a lot of rainfall. Be it Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, or Mumbai. It gave impetus to the Indian hill stations to receive their first snowfall. And luckily, it did happen. Northern beauties like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand are finally covered with a blanket of whiteness. To say it looks mesmerizing would be an understatement.

With so much rain in the plains, the temperature got down sharply. Leading to further downfall in the temperature of the higher altitude regions. If you are curious to know about the different white wonderlands of  India, then you are at the right place. Read on.

 

1. Hemkund Sahib, Uttarakhand

Hemkund Sahib is one of the most picturesque locations. After receiving a heavy snowfall on Monday, this famous Sikh shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas is closed for winter.

Senior manager of the gurdwara Sardar Seva Singh informed that plenty of devotees came to witness the ceremonial closure of this season. We bet that the place must be looking highly majestic right now.

 

2. Lahaul-Spiti, Himachal Pradesh

Lahaul-Spiti is one of the most mesmerizing hilly destinations. Hoteliers are happy with the fact that it is finally time for the arrival of winter tourists. Now that the place received its first snowfall, the hopes of tourists coming are as high. Furthermore, with the moderate snowfall, hill stations like Kaza, Losar, and Chicham have become a lot more bewitchingly beautiful.

 

3. Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand

Pithoragarh district of Uttrakhand received massive snowfall on Sunday. In addition to it, roads were blocked near the Nepal border at Dharchula town. Locals and security personnel have been facing a lot of problems, said Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officials.

Even in Badrinath and Kedarnath, plenty of snowfall happened. This impetus the administration to make decisions to halt the pilgrim activities until the situation improves.

 

4. Rohtang Pass, Himachal Pradesh

Rohtang Pass in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh was also recently hit by fresh snow. Located some 52 km from Manali, the tourist destination of Chitkul, a village close to the China border, in the Kinnaur district also received snowfall.

An official of the Met department, while talking to IANS, said, and we quote, “High-altitude areas of Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Shimla districts have been experiencing light to moderate snow since Monday night, while mid and lower hills getting widespread rain.”

 

5. Rudraprayag District, Uttarakhand

The last hilly destination that is on our list is the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Going back to the last month, the Kedarnath region in Rudraprayag district also received its first snowfall of the season.
