These Indian Tourist Spots Are Getting Choked Due To Overtourism

India has witnessed scorching heat this season. Moreover, the national capital had reached a temperature of 48 degrees Celsius. Apart from Delhi, there are many other states where people are getting parched by the sun. This kind of heat generates only one idea among the people, which is to visit a hill station for some days. There is no doubt that the Tourist spots are among the good choices in order to escape the heat. Well, there are also some drawbacks of it. Most of the hill stations are witnessing over tourism and that also put these naturally beautiful places under a threat which is about excessive traffic and the degradation of the natural beauty that these places hold.

 

1. Mahabaleshwar

The Mahabaleshwar hill station is located in Maharashtra and it is quite popular for being a tourist attractor. Well, the overcrowding also had its negative effects on Mahabaleshwar. In order to provide more resources to the tourists; the trees are being cut down also the area absorbed a considerable amount of pollution due to the high number of vehicles.

 

2. Ooty

Located in the Nilgiri Hills, Ooty is one of the best tourist spots. In a recent report, it is revealed that on average, 17,000 people are visiting the Botanical garden of Ooty for the past few days. This may sound like a great achievement if we consider tourism as our prime focus, But the reality is quite dark as Ooty is planned for just 10,000 people but it accommodates about 125,000 people nowadays. This over tourism is causing a lot of havoc in the area,

 

3. Darjeeling

Darjeeling is located in the lesser Himalayas and it possesses some of the best natural scenery. The snowy mountain peaks are visible from the hill station that is why it has become a fine choice for the tourists. However, being an ultra-popular place has its own drawbacks. On average, Darjeeling receives around 3.5 Lakh domestic tourists.

 

4. Shimla

Shimla is among the most popular tourist spots during the summer. However, the place has been witnessing excessive traffic for the last few years. On average, around 5000 vehicles are entering Shimla daily. Moreover, the numbers get hiked up during the weekends.

 

5. Mussoorie

Undoubtedly, Mussoorie is still one of the most beautiful places in India. However, the recent few years had turned out to be pivotal for it. The excess of traffic had hiked up the pollution level and also degraded the natural beauty of the Mussoorie. Moreover, Mussoorie also suffered an acute water shortage.
