Indore, which is ranked as one of the best cities to live in India has achieved a major milestone on Tuesday by vaccinating its entire eligible population with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among all the cities with a population above 10 lakh, Indore has become the only city in the country where 100% of eligible populations were given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Bhubaneswar is the first city in India to vaccinate 100% of its population.
The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated the people of Indore for the remarkable achievement. In the series of tweets, Shivraj Singh Chouhan called it a miracle. He said,
“Many thanks to the people of Indore, public representatives, administration, crisis management committees, and various social organizations that due to their active cooperation, the first dose of 100 % vaccine has been administered in Indore.”
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he had appealed to the Indorites to get their first dose of vaccine by August 31, and that had been achieved. He added,
“Recently, during my stay in Indore, I had appealed to the people of Indore to take the first dose by August 31. Indore has done this miracle. The dose of security and life has been imposed by the people of Indore. Many congratulations.”
He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance. Shivraj Singh Chouhan added,
“Many thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, with whose blessings the state could get enough vaccine and Indore achieved this goal. Under the guidance of Prime Minister, we will soon achieve the target of 100 per cent vaccination in entire Madhya Pradesh.”
Manish Singh, Indore Collector, confirmed the development and said by Tuesday evening, Indore has vaccinated 28,02,212 people above 18 years, more than its targeted population of 28,07,559. Indore is followed by Agar-Malwa district, with 90% of its population vaccinated. Madhya Pradesh capital, Bhopal, is at number 3 with 88% vaccinated.
On Tuesday, India has also made the record of vaccination. In India, over 1.30 crore doses of vaccines were given on a single day. It is the highest ever on a single day. If we move with this speed, we will soon defeat coronavirus.
