5. Rakesh Sharma – First Indian In Space

The first man from India to go into space is Rakesh Sharma. He is the only Indian citizen till now to ever go to space. On April 2, 1984, he flew aboard the Soviet rocket Soyuz T-11 launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic and became first Indian to enter space. He spent eight days onboard the Russian space station Salyut 7.
