5. Rakesh Sharma – First Indian In Space
The first man from India to go into space is Rakesh Sharma. He is the only Indian citizen till now to ever go to space. On April 2, 1984, he flew aboard the Soviet rocket Soyuz T-11 launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic and became first Indian to enter space. He spent eight days onboard the Russian space station Salyut 7.
6. Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle
The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle made its first flight on September 20, 1993. After this, these versions of the rocket have been used to put all kinds of satellites into orbit.
7. Three Satellites Launch At A Time
The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle launched for orbit with three different satellites on board, one Indian, one German, and one Korean. It was the first time we had ever launched more than one satellite at a time.
8. Geo-Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle
Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) launched for the first time in 2001.
