Tonight Gujarat Titans will play against Kolkata Knight Riders. A win for the former keeps their hope alive for playoffs. However, if GT loses today, they will be eliminated. Yesterday’s loss dented Delhi Capitals’ hope, and now they will depend on other teams’ results. Also, they need to win with a huge margin against Lucknow Super Giants to give them any chance.
Can RCB And CSK Both Qualify For PlayOffs Together?
Yes, it is theoretically possible, but practically it is not. For CSK and RCB both to qualify, certain results need to go in the favor of both teams. Assuming, the Rajasthan Royals will qualify as they have 16 points, now the other teams that can make way for both RCB and CSK are LSG and SRH. Assuming GT will not win its remaining two matches against KKR and SRH comprehensively.
Lucknow Super Giants‘ net run rate is already negative. LSG needs to lose at least one match against DC or MI. Also, if they win one match, the margin should not be huge. In that case, they will also finish with 14 points. If SRH loses both its matches against GT and PBKS with a huge margin and RCB wins against CSK with a small margin then there are chances that CSK and RCB both have superior net run rate than SRH. But it is highly unlikely that Sunrisers Hyderabad will lose both of their remaining matches owing to their current form and destructive batting. Moreover, SRH has both their games on their home turf Hyderabad.

If LSG wins both the matches against DC and MI, RCB will be eliminated even before their game against CSK. In that case, if RCB wins against CSK, then CSK will be eliminated as they will finish with 14 points. SRH and LSG will have more than 14 points and will be the remaining two teams to qualify. So if we look practically, only one team between CSK and RCB can qualify for the playoffs. But RCB wants LSG to lose at least one match. The good thing is that LSG will play their remaining two matches against DC on May 14 and the last match on May 17 against MI. The picture will be clear for RCB if actually, they can qualify by winning against CSK.
