10th Jaipur Literature Fest is on with spellbinding Gulzar’s poetic hue. On January 19, at Diggi Palace, Jaipur, the very iconic festival which celebrates the art of words and imagination, which celebrates the joy of writing, was inaugurated. This colourful saga will run for five days welcoming artists and writers from around the world.
This time, the fest theme is based on the notion, “The Freedom to Dream: India at 70” and was inaugurated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje along with American poet Anne Waldman, Gulzar and spiritual guru and writer Sadhguru.
CM Raje mentioned in the event that, “JLF’s popularity has spread like wildfire and has resulted in the birth of other copycat festivals, which is also a good thing”.
Like always Gulzar Saheb shaded some of his notions on writing which is a stroke of luck to people who listens to him live. He says it like, “It is important to question why one is writing. One must question oneself sternly if one is writing for satisfaction or fooling himself or the society. The collective conscience of the society cannot be fooled”.
Adding to this he also spoke on regional languages, “It is wrong to call them regional languages. They are all national languages and must be accorded such importance”.
