Today, he is in the headlines for achieving his dream. Kevin completed his 1 million push-up, setting an inspiring and incredible personal record.
This is definitely not a miracle but an inspiring story of a man and an influencer who completed his year-long dream. This is not only about fitness, and persistence, but also dedication. It all started 10 years ago, and finally, Kevin did it. But what does it take? A whole lot of dedication. Kevin’s journey proves that even the wildest dreams can come true with the right mindset.
Kevin Cullum: A Man With 1 Million Push-Up
Kevin is well-known as a pushup guy who has recently achieved his goal of 1 million pushups; his fitness journey started in 2015. From then on, he began sharing his journey with his followers on Instagram as the Pushup Guy.
His journey seems to be personal, isn’t it? Many of us just dream of doing such courageous things, but a man with dedication and the right mindset completed it and is now an inspiration to many.
After completing his one-millionth pushup, Kevin Cullum said, “ I was trying to break the world record for the most push-ups done in an hour.” He added that he trained for a couple of months, but when he started getting injuries, he thought he couldn’t do it. “So that’s when I fully transitioned my focus to doing a million push-ups.”
After achieving his life goal, Kevin talked about mental health and shared his struggles with anxiety.
What Made Kevin Cullum Challenge Himself?
He began this journey to track his fitness, both physical and mental. This was a personal goal. He wanted to fit in, but more than that, he wanted to be able to manage his anxieties.
Earlier in April, he captioned about his journey, “Growing up, I was so afraid. So afraid of so many things. In particular, I was afraid to throw up. To vomit. I couldn’t even write that word 20 years ago. My fears and anxieties about everything in life were debilitating me as a kid. I felt like THAT was who I was. That was my persona: a guy who is afraid to throw up. A guy who is afraid. I was so defined by that internally, I just figured I was also defined by that externally.”
“It’s a strange fear. I know it is. But it impacted everything I did in life growing up. Every decision I made had that as the final consideration. These days, I’m nothing like I was as a kid. I still have anxieties and fears, but who doesn’t? I often wonder if I will regret sharing these details of my past. I know some people think I shouldn’t talk about it because it’s not cool or tough.”
In April of 2024, he wrote, “3,369 days ago, I started tracking my push-ups. I thought it’d be cool to see how many I did later in life. After I did 10s of thousands, I thought, it would be really cool to do 1 million in my lifetime. Maybe that would inspire someone, I hoped. As I continued to make progress — 100,000 push-ups down, 200,000 push-ups down — I started sharing the journey on Instagram. Again — to hopefully inspire people.”
