The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2023 season came to a conclusion on Sunday with a sad loss to Gujarat Titans. As the club concluded another season without capturing the IPL, Virat Kohli was undoubtedly frustrated. As RCB batted first at home, Virat Kohli hit 101 not out. However, while RCB thought they could easily overcome GT, Shubman Gill had other ideas.

Gujarat Titans claimed the match by six wickets with five balls remaining after the opener scored a superb 104 not out off 52 balls. Vijay Shankar, who scored 53 points out of 35, was a huge assistance to Gill. However, Kohli took the brutal blow of elimination hard, as he was spotted tossing a bottle when RCB failed to defend the run target.

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has advised Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli to join the Delhi Capitals (DC). Pietersen tweeted, “Time for VIRAT to move to the capital city! #IPL.”

Kevin Pietersen made his comment after RCB lost the crucial league match to Gujarat Titans and failed to advance to the IPL 2023 playoffs. Pietersen thinks Virat Kohli ought to represent a Delhi-based IPL team, as Delhi is where he was born.

Cricket devotees on Twitter had varying reactions to Pietersen’s statements. While some RCB supporters chastised the England great for advocating such a move, plenty pushed Kohli to take it.

Virat Kohli’s Opinion On Joining Delhi

Talking on an RCB podcast episode last year, Kohli acknowledged hearing rumors that Delhi was considering selecting him but decided instead to go with left-arm bowler Pradeep Sangwan. Virat Kohli stated,

“There was one conversation where I heard from people that the Delhi team was interested to go after me, but the dynamics of their team turned out to be such that they went for Pradeep Sangwan – who was a left-arm seamer, amazing bowler, at that time he was our best bowler in U-19. So Delhi decided to go for him because they wanted their bowling strengthened, and RCB picked me. In hindsight, I feel it was such an important moment in my life. I didn’t realize it then, but now when I look back, things could have been very different to what they are now. I would not have it any other way than this.”

With the RCB exit, we have four teams for the IPL 2023 Playoffs, Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Mumbai Indians. So which team you guys are supporting? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
