Many girls have a dream to become a bride. A 24-year-old woman Kshama Bindu from Vadodara is set to marry on June 11. However, the twist is she is marrying herself as an act of self-acceptance. It is a solo affair. Self-love is very important. The wedding ceremony will be just like any other marriage in India. There will be haldi, mehndi, pheras, and vermilion, except for the groom and the baraat.
It will be one of the rarest kinds of first self-marriage or sologamy in Gujarat. Kshama Bindu, the bride is really excited about it. Talking to TOI, Kshama said, “I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself.”

Kshama did some online research to find if any woman married herself in the country, but she could not find any. She said, “Maybe I am the first to set an example of self-love in our country where marriages are considered to be sacred.”
Kshama added, “Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also a recognition of stepping into adulthood and an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence this wedding.”

Kshama added, “I have sent out the invites. The mehendi ceremony is on June 9 and the wedding will be at 5 pm on June 11. My bridal trousseau includes white dhoti and kurta for mehendi ceremony and sari for haldi on the wedding day.” The wedding will be held in a temple in Gotri, Vadodra. This is not an end.
