ABD’s cricket career is quite known to all of us, but he is also an ace player in many sports like tennis, badminton, and rugby. He also captained the under-19 rugby team representing South Africa.
12. Three Times ICC Cricketer Of The Year
ABD is one of the best batsmen in the world and he has been awarded the ICC Cricketer of the year for three years namely 2009, 2011, and 2015. This is the highest award any cricketer can receive for his game in international cricket.
13. IPL
Post his retirement from international cricket ABD has played in several cricket leagues. He admitted in a recent interview that the Indian Premier League (IPL) is the best League. He is one of the primary batsmen in the Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) team in the IPL. Now he has taken retirement from all forms of cricket.
14. Friends With Virat Kohli
His friendship with the Indian team captain Virat Kohli has always been in limelight. They both are great batsmen and friends. In a recent interview, ABD said that he is afraid to say anything in front of Virat. Even if ABD comments on the shoes of Virat, he arranges the same shoes for him as well.
After a 15 year long career, ABD announced his retirement in 2018. It was a nightmare for all cricket fans. Everybody thought that ABD would resign after the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. As everyone has to undergo struggles in life, ABD suffered from a major elbow injury which kept him away from his team. Whilst the injury ABD resigned as the captain in the Test Cricket format. He debuted as a wicket-keeper batsman in the South African cricket team. But he gained popularity due to his majestic cricketing shorts around the ground.
