5. Manohar Parrikar “Goa’s Mr. Clean”
After he eliminated the state’s illegal mining racket suspending and canceling licenses of several traders, he was branded as Goa’s Mr. Clean. He even suspended panchayat secretaries, block development officers, and lower-rank staff who are found to be corrupt.
6. Defence Minister During Surgical Strike
In 2016, when India carried out the Surgical Strike against Pakistan based Terror Groups in POK after URI Incident, Manohar Parrikar was the Defence Minister of India.
7. Tenure As Chief Minister
Manohar Parrikar Served as Chief Minister on four different occasions. His first tenure as Chief Minister was from October 24, 2000, to February 27, 2002. Even though he became Chief Minister four times, but he could never complete his full tenure at the office. During his third stint in 2012, he cut down the prices of petrol in the state by almost Rs 11 per liter, the move which made him most popular chief minister overnight.
8. Wanted Narendra Modi As The Face Of BJP
Many people don’t know this, but it was Manohar Parrikar who wanted Narendra Modi to be the face of BJP in 2014 Lok Sabha Polls.
He was one of the finest leaders of India. India lost the great leader in Manohar Parrikar. May his soul rest in peace. A few months back India lost another big leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
