Mary Millben Touches PM Modi’s Feet After Singing India’s National Anthem; Video Goes Viral

Ms. Millben, 38, performed the Indian national anthem at an invitation-only event held by the United States Indian Community Foundation (USICF). It took place in Washington at DC’s Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre.

Mary Millben is a notable African-American Hollywood actress and singer. She is well-known in India for her renditions of the national anthem Jan Gana Mana and Om Jai Jagdish Hare.  Ms. Millben had previously stated that she was “deeply honored” to play the Indian national anthem for Prime Minister Modi.

The musician from the United States also took part in Prime Minister Modi’s Yoga Day celebrations. The celebrations took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Meanwhile, US Vice President Kamala Harris praised India. She said that the country’s history and principles have had an impact on the world and that the country has encouraged millions of people worldwide, whether through philosophy and theology, the power of civil disobedience, or its dedication to democracy.

The singer stated,

“Having performed the American national anthem and patriotic music for four consecutive US presidents, I am deeply honored to perform the Indian national anthem for Prime Minister Modi and in honor of the country and people I have come to call my family.”

She continued.

“Both the American and Indian anthems speak to the ideals of democracy and freedom, and this is the true essence of the US-India relationship. A free nation is only defined by a free people.” 

 

PM Modi’s Aura

PM Modi’s tremendous spiritual aura and deep rootedness in Indian traditions and culture have earned him widespread admiration.

During PM Modi’s visit to Papua New Guinea last month, the Pacific Island nation’s Prime Minister touched PM Modi’s feet as a token of respect. A similar act was seen on his departure from the country. A man and a woman bowed in front of the Prime Minister with their heads touching the ground, according to airport footage. PM Modi quickly returned their greeting by bowing with folded hands.
