Jason Roy completes his century in 92 balls. After the century, Roy became more aggressive and hit three consecutive sixes on Mehdy Hasan and got out after scoring 153.
After Jason Roy got out, Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler took England to huge score with 95 run partnership. Liam Plunkett and Chris Woakes provided the finishing touch and took England to a mammoth score of 386 for 6. Jos Buttler scored 64 in 44 balls. For Bangladesh Mehdy Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin took 2 wickets each.
2. Bangladesh Was Never In Chase
To need 387 runs to win, Bangladesh was never in chase. The approach they have shown was like they really don’t want to chase this target down. In fact, they were playing to get to England’s score as close as possible so that their run-rate won’t impact much. The openers fall cheaply, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rehman shown some fight, but that fight was only to run as much as they can and not to chase England’s score.
Though Shakib Al Hasan scored 121, he did not get much support from the other batsmen as Bangladesh got bowled out at 280. Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes took 3 wickets each.
3. Jason Roy – Man Of The Match
For his 153 run innings in just 121 balls, Jason Roy was awarded the Man of the Match award. Because of his innings, England won the match by 106 runs.
The match 11 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was washed out due to rain. Tomorrow we have Australia playing against India at Kennington Oval. Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka at Bristol on Tuesday, June 11. While England will play against West Indies on June 14, at Southampton.
