Gambhir won the toss and elected to bat as he made just a single change to the line up. Delhi brought Chris Morris back as he replaced Dan Christian. It was a slow start from KKR as Boult bowled a maiden over to start off the innings. Boult who was on fire initially, sent Narine back to the pavillion. After a slow start, KKR ended their powerplay with 50 on the board. Nadeem got the big wicket of Robin Uthappa as he went back for a quick fire 35 off just 19 balls. Lynn who struggled for any rhythm departed for 31. Captian walked in next just to add to the home crowd’s woes, as he ended up hitting one straight to Trent Boult. It was Rana holding up one end who was joined by Andre Russell. Russell got his beast mode on. He hit 41 off just 12 balls. Whereas Rana’s 59 off 30 balls helped KKR to a big total of 200 at the loss of 9 wickets.

It was a tiring day for the Knight Riders on field as Russell and Rana took liking to their bowling department. Trent Boult started really well with a maiden. He ended up with figures of 2-29 in his 4 overs and displayed world class bowling. Rahul Tewatia’s 3-18 in his 3 overs made him the most economical of the lot.  Despite their efforts, KKR ended up with a massive target to chase as all other bowlers went for plenty. Russell and Rana hit the bowlers regularly out of the park as they hit 10 sixes between the two of them.

With a massive total infront of them, KKR would want to get off to a great start. But adding to their worries, KKR’s top 3 went back for barely any runs. Rishabh Pant and Glenn Maxwell looked to steady the ship and get their team on track for this run chase. Both batsmen looked in sublime form as Glenn Maxwell hit 47 off 22 balls, hitting 4 maximums and 3 boundaries with a strike rate crossing 200. Pant went for 43 in 26 balls as he hit 7 boundaries and 1 maximum. It was down to their lower order but the team suffered to get going as they lost by 71 runs.

With a massive target for their bowlers to defend. They had breathing space. The team got off to a great start as the top 3 collapsed under the asking rate. Pant and Maxwell looked to give the team some stability but Kuldeep Yadav got both the set batsmen before their half centuries. From that point point onwards it was all too easy for the home team as the asking rate kept on creeping. Thanks to their batsmen, KKR had a comprehensive victory over Delhi Daredevils in this Match 13 of Season 11.

If you missed out on how Kings XI Punjab had a close victory against CSK with a close victory of 4 Runs and Chris Gayle as the man of the match who scored 63 Runs of just 33 balls. Check here to read all about it.
