Second match on this Saturday as the two bottom-placed teams, Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore face each other in this match 19 of the Vivo IPL 2018. AB de Villiers spectacular innings take RCB to a victory.
Build Up
RCB host Delhi Daredevils as both teams will look for a victory to get some points. Bangalore lost their last match to Mumbai by a big margin. Delhi Daredevils lost their last match to KKR. Both the Delhi born captains were desperately looking for a victory.
Toss
One change for both teams as RCB opt to the ball. Delhi make one change as Harshal Patel makes his debut. Vohra came in for Sarfaraz Khan for RCB.
Delhi’s Batting
Delhi got off to a poor start losing both their openers early. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer build up a slow yet solid partnership for the away team.
Iyer scored 52 in 31 balls hitting 4 boundaries and 3 maximums. Pant held one end tight scoring runs at a good pace but all other batsmen found it difficult to get going. Delhi Daredevils could only manage 174 in their 20 overs. Losing 5 wickets. But if it wasn’t for Rishabh Pant Delhi wouldn’t even have gotten here. Pant scored a brilliant 85 in 48 balls hitting 6 fours and 7 sixes.
RCB’s Bowling
The home team started off really well getting both the openers in the powerplay giving away just 23. Iyer and Pant spoiled the bowlers’ figures as both the batsmen looked up to the contest. Washington Sundar got the crucial wicket of Shreyas Iyer who looked set for more. Umesh Yadav bowled well as he gave away just 27 getting a wicket as well in his 4 overs. Chahal grabbed a couple.
Bangalore’s Chase
RCB had a horrible start losing both their openers inside 5 overs. Till the time Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were at the crease, Bangalore had hope. Virat Kohli who saw himself going back to the pavilion to the catch of the season probably. Kohli scored 30 in 26. Then there was AB in the middle who was fitting the bowlers out of the park regularly. AB de Villiers single handedly took RCB to a much-needed victory as they won by 6 wickets.
DD’s Bowling
Delhi had a small total in front of struggling Bangalore batting. The away team got off to a brilliant start getting 2 wickets relatively quickly. Trent Boult took an amazing catch to sent Virat Kohli back. But there was AB who took the game away from the bowlers. The bowlers had no chance against de Villiers’ masterclass as Delhi suffered their 4th loss of the season.
Man Of The Match
AB de Villiers spectacular took RCB to their second victory of the tournament. He scored 90 in just 39 deliveries with 10 fours and 5 sixes with a strike rate of over 230.
